It’s summer time, which means your kids will be sitting at home trying to figure out fun activities to do. Since we are in Orlando, that also means that they will probably have to find something to do inside because it is either too hot or it’s raining and thundering. But the great thing about inside activites is that your kids can really use their imigination while playing. A great idea would be to create a ship and let the kids play “pirate”. There are many great inexpensive custumes, and Beyda & Associates has a great selection of pirate books. Check out Do Pirates Take Baths, I’m a Pirate Captian, & Pirates’ Handbook.

I think that for most people there has always been a fascination with pirates, but it has become really popular since the Pirates of the Caribbean movies came out in the US. It’s important to know a little bit of history behind pirates. The term pirates come from the word piracy. Piracy is a robbery that is committed at sea or at shore with out the commission from a sovereign nation. Thus, a pirate is one who attacks or steals with out legal authority.
There is still an issue with Piracy, while not in the US waters but in the Pacific and Indian oceans. The coast guard and Royal Navy have nearly eliminated Piracy in the US waters and the Caribbean. There has recently been a surge of seaborne piracy again transportation vessels off the coast of Somali. Creating a worldwide loss of 13-16 billion dollars.
Piracy is a serious threat to many countries. Pirates are still an intriguing subject to study because of the lifestyle they live while aboard their ship. To get great pirate books, and to get fun activities call Beyda and Associates today! 1.866.702.3932.

My friend just found out that she has a heart murmur. She explained to me that a heart murmur is extra or unusual sound heard during your heart beat. Her murmur has a “whooshing” sound, and is very loud. Murmur’s can range from faint to loud. In her case the doctor explained that it’s a normal heart murmur and it poses no major conditions. He did however explain to her that she needed to exercise more and watch her diet. Heart conditions/issues have a lot to do with how much you exercise and making sure you get just the right balance of nutrients. Check out some of these books that we carry at Beyda & Associates: The Road to a Healthy Heart Runs Through the Kitchen, The Healthy Heart Cookbook, and MUCH MORE. There are over 150 million people affected by Hepatitis C worldwide. What is Hepatitis C? Hepatitis C is a blood-borne infectious disease that is caused by the Hepatitis C virus (HVC) affecting the liver. Hepatitis C virus is spread by blood to blood contact. There is no vaccine for HVC. Symptoms of acute Hepatitis C include decreased appetite, fatigue, abdominal pain, jaundice, itching, and flu like symptoms. The symptoms can be medically managed, and a portion of patients can be cleared of the virus by a course of anti-viral medications.
